| Beschreibung:This course is part of the B1 module, to be taken by BA students in their second semester in conjunction with the lecture course OFFERED BY ME titled “English and American Literatures and Cultures: A Historical Survey”. It seeks to introduce students to some of the salient developments in modern Anglo-American literary criticism, by taking up introductory texts that present the overviews of specific theoretical approaches and then by attempting to read literary texts with the aid of these theoretical conceptions. In other words, each of the course sessions will be based on our readings of the text(s) allotted for that particular session. Please note that we will have biweekly sessions, i.e. we will meet once every two weeks for the duration of one and a half hours. If you opt for this course, you will also need to register for the lecture course CONDUCTED BY ME on “English and American Literatures and Cultures: A Historical Survey”. Your performance in both the course will be assessed via a combined written exam at the end of the semester. |
