| Veranstaltungstyp:Praktikum (Offizielle Lehrveranstaltungen) |
| Beschreibung:Wireless transmissions and other radio frequency (RF) waves surround us constantly. Although knowing the utilization of the RF spectrum is important as it can impact the performance of wireless communication systems, we do not have an easy way of seeing and/or visualizing radio transmissions around us. In this practical lab, the students will build a measurement platform to capture an image showing radio transmissions using an antenna mounted on a movable platform, use it to conduct measurements and evaluate the system's performance. The lab will involve, but is not limited to: Writing distributed software to orchestrate measurements, interfacing with hardware, capturing wireless signal strength, collecting and visualizing data, and evaluating system performance. Requirements: Computer Networks ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The practical course will take place during the semester, with a mandatory information session on October 16 at 10:00 s.t. in room 73/E24. During this session, we will introduce the task and content of the course. A brief overview of the topic is also available in the StudIP course description. The practical lab is limited to 12 seats, so preliminary enrollment will follow a First-In, First-Out (FiFo) schedule. Students beyond this limit will be placed on a waiting list. However, the final enrollment will take place during the information session, where the available 12 seats will be officially assigned. If an enrolled student is absent, a student from the waiting list may take their place. Note that Computer Networks is a prerequisite for this lab. To facilitate work on the practical task, we have temporarily allocated time slots on Tuesday from 10:00 to 17:00 and Wednesday from 13:00 to 17:00, during which the lab will be available. However, continuous attendance is not required. The final schedule, including the scope and preferred weekdays for these slots, will be discussed in the first session. |
