Ontologies are a classical framework for organizing knowledge in artificial intelligence. With the appearance of the semantic web, various logics and representation schemes have been proposed and standardized, prominent examples being description logics and OWL. This course will focus on the logical foundations of ontologies, especially in the context of the semantic web, but will also touch philosophical and practical aspects.
