Beschreibung
Embedded systems permeate increasingly complex, unstructured and sometimes non-stationary environments like e.g. car driver assistance systems and mobile robots. The demands on their dependability hence rise, especially in case of human interaction where every potential fault or misbehavior could cause severe consequences. But as the complexity increases, several sources of uncertainty are likely to increase as well to an unacceptable level. Reasons are for instance noise, vagueness and ambiguity of information about the environment and also disturbances and anomalies in the interaction with it.
But in order to ensure a safe system behavior, it is necessary to deal with such uncertainties and anomalies explicitly. Thus this seminar is about dealing with uncertainties. It will include presentations of different strategies for expressing uncertainty and how those concepts are integrated into the system architecture. Based on some given papers and/or books every student should further explore the literature for the specific topic. The topic will be presented at the seminar and a written report summarizes the literature in detail.
Topics of interest are:
- AI-Methods for modeling uncertainty like
- Dempster-Shafer Theory
- Bayesian Reasoning and Uncertainty
- Possibility vs Probability
- General Information Theory like
- Uncertainty in Information Theory
- Info Gap Decision Theory
- more specific topics like
- Fuzzy Methods for Modeling Uncertainty
- OWA-Operators
- Metrics for Measuring Uncertainty
- Pain Levels
and general topics like
- Trust Management
- System Health Management
- Risk Analysis
