Beschreibung
Prerequisites: Introduction to Neuroinformatics, Introduction to Computational Linguistics
In this practical seminar, techniques from statistical information processing and neuroinformatics are applied to various problems in the areas of machine learning and computational linguistics. Participants will analyse a number of selected data sets in small work groups, using techniques such as artificial neural networks, support vector machines, decision trees, feature selection, data transformation, dimensionality reduction, and clustering. The approaches chosen by the different groups and the results obtained are then discussed in class. Techniques that participants are not familiar with will be introduced in short lectures, as necessary.
At the end of the practical, each work group will tackle a larger application problem. At least one of the groups is expected to participate in the CLEANEVAL competition (see http://cleaneval.sigwac.org.uk/).
Please note that the practical is limited to at most 20 participants. Registration via Stud.IP is mandatory and if the course is overbooked, preference will be given to those who have signed up first.
