Beschreibung
Analogical reasoning lies at the core of cognitive abilities and is a powerful capacity of interpreting, understanding, and conceptualizing novel situations. Many areas of our common sense understanding of the world is based on the ability to perform analogical inferences. In this project, participants will become familiar with different approaches to analogical reasoning. They will explore possibilities of applying these approaches to a variety of domains (ranging from metaphors and naive physics to political systems etc.). The main goal of this project is to identify an application scenario by developing the formal foundations for modeling the scenario eventually ending in the realization in a computer program. Furthermore the model should be tested in psychological experiments in order to test the adequacy of the model.
